Dodge City volleyball took on #9 Colby at home to continue Jayhawk Conference play and would go four sets for the second time this season with the Trojans, but ultimately fall 3-1 (23-25, 26-24, 16-25, 16-25) in the contest.

The loss sends the Conquistadors to 11-13 on the season and 5-7 in KJCCC action.Â

After taking an early 3-1 lead to open the night, the Conqs saw Colby put together a 5-0 run to grab the lead in the first set, and the Trojans would grow the lead to 13-7, but a 4-0 run midway through the set cut into the deficit for the Conqs. The Conqs would tie it up at 22-22 on a
Kayla Cantrill ace, but Colby finished off the set, taking it 25-23. In the second set, the Conqs had an early 5-0 run and would have control most of the set until late, when Colby tied it 23-23, but the Conqs responded to earn the second set win 26-24. Tight early in the third set, Colby started to take control when they led 10-8, then went up 16-9 and 20-11 on their way to taking the third set 25-16. The fourth set was like the third as Colby grabbed early control, going up 10-3 and working to the 25-16 fourth set, sending the Conqs to the fourth-set loss.Â

Mali Towers recorded 15 digs for the Conqs at the libero position, while
Chelsea Durbridge had 37 assists and nine digs. Cantrill had a team-high nine kills, adding six digs and two aces, while
Amariah White recorded seven kills and three block assists.
Chaehee Baek was efficient with her opportunities, hitting .583 with seven kills.Â

The Conqs will be road warriors to continue the season as the next three matches are on the road, starting with a showdown against rival Garden City on Wednesday, October 22nd, at 6:30 pm.Â
