Dodge City volleyball jumped back into the win column on Wednesday with a four-set win over Pratt, picking up the victory 22-25, 25-14, 25-13, 25-22.
The Conquistadors, with the win, moved to 11-12 on the season and 5-6 in KJCCC action. The win is also the eighth straight over Pratt in the series.
To open the night, the Conqs would see Pratt mount a run in the first set, working to a 20-14 advantage before the Conqs would close the game with a 5-0 run to draw within 20-19. Pratt, however, would not allow the Conqs to tie the set and close it out 25-22 to lead the match. After dropping the first set, the Conqs responded as they opened the second set hot, working to a 10-3 lead and would secure the second set 25-14. The third set would see the Conqs again start strong, doubling up Pratt early 12-6, leading to a Pratt timeout, and the Conqs cruised to the third set 25-13. The fourth set would prove to be a tight one with Pratt holding a late lead 22-19, but the Conqs answered the call, finishing the match with a 6-1 run, taking the fourth set 25-23.
The Conqs had their best offensive hit on the season with 63 kills, the most in a match this year, and hit .364 as a team in the match, the best hitting percentage this season in a conference match.
Kayla Cantrill had a career-best 17 kills and finished the night with a double-double with 11 digs, while
Amariah White tallied 12 kills on a .435 hitting percentage, adding four block assists. Chaeehee Baek had her best match as a Conq with 12 kills on a .550 hitting percentage.
Sunni Skipps continued her strong freshman season, finishing with nine kills and 13 digs on the evening.
Mali Towers had a career-best 16 digs at the libero spot, while
Chelsea Durbridge finished the match with six kills, 54 assists, six digs, a solo block, and three block assists.
The Conqs are home on Saturday, October 18th, for their DIG PINK match as they will host #9 Colby at 6:30 pm.
