Dodge City women's soccer flipped the game plan from Friday against the Hutchinson Blue Dragons and packed in the defense on Sunday in the showdown in Dodge City and would hang tough with Hutchinson but ultimately fall 1-0. 
 
The Conquistadors, with the loss, fell to 6-6 on the season and 4-6 in KJCCC action. 
 
The Conqs would settle in defensively, packing in the defense and continually challenged Hutchinson as they held the Blue Dragons off the scoreboard in the first half behind strong defense. After firing off 10 shots in the first half, Hutchinson rifled off 20 more in the second half, and while the Conqs were able to stonewall the Blue Dragons for a majority of the second half, they broke through in the 69th minute for the lone goal of the matchup. The Conqs made a few runs offensively but were unable to muster a shot, falling 1-0. 
 
Defensively, the Conqs only surrendered the lone goal on 30 Hutchinson shots as Lucy Goss recorded 11 saves in goal. 
 
The Conqs are back in action on Wednesday against Barton on the road in a game that is scheduled to be played at Fort Hays State University.
