Dodge City volleyball opened a tough three-match road stretch on Saturday travelling to Great Bend to take on #5 Barton and the Conquistadors would struggle on the road falling in three straight sets to the Cougars.
The Conqs suffered a tough 3-0 loss 25-16, 25-13, 25-16 to drop to 12-9 on the season and 3-1 in KJCCC action.
Barton would take early control and capitalize on some Conq mistakes as the Conqs late pushback in the first set wasn't enough to come back with the Cougars taking the first set 25-16. Set two would see Barton jump out to a 7-1 lead and the Conqs would not recover in the set falling 25-13. The third set saw the Conqs get the first two points, but Barton again grabbed control early in the set and went on to take it 25-16 as the Conqs suffered a three-set loss.
In the loss,
Leisey Keli'i recorded 16 digs at the libero spot while
Amariah White had six kills and
Kamalei Wassman recorded 17 assists.
Conqs will look to put the match in the rearview mirror quickly as they will be back on the court to take on Hutchinson on Monday, September 23rd at 6:00 pm.
