Box Score Dodge City volleyball rolled to a 3-0 start in KJCCC action as they swept Pratt at home in three sets 25-19, 25-22, and 25-10.
The Conquistadors with the victory move to 12-8 on the season and 3-0 in KJCCC action, while having won five in a row in the series against Pratt all in straight sets.
The evening started with a back-and-forth start to the first set until the Conqs mounted a run that would lead 18-13 seeing Pratt call a timeout. The Conqs would see Pratt gnaw at the lead but would hold them off going on to secure the first set 25-19. Conqs tallied a quick 2-0 lead to open the second set but Pratt answered and would grab the lead and go up 11-8. A 3-0 run by the Conqs tied the action at 11-11 but Pratt countered rattling off the next five points to own their largest lead of the night at 16-11. Conqs would once again have a response cutting the lead down and then ultimately regaining the lead at 20-19 and would fend off the Beavers late to take the second set 25-22. The third set was dominated from the start as the Conqs jumped out to a 4-1 lead that only grew as the set continued as the Conqs went up by double figures at 14-4 and cruised to a 25-10 third set to take the match.
Eight different Conqs recorded a kill on the night with
Tess De Zanet and
Agnes Hegardt leading the charge each posting eight kills.
Hayden Pinard and
Kamalei Wassman helped run the offense posting 12 and 17 assists, while
Leisey Keli'i had another solid night at libero with 11 digs and added one ace and five assists.
Azra Arslanoglu chipped in a 14-dig night with five kills and four aces.
A big conference stretch looms ahead for the Conqs, as their next three matches will be on the road. They will take on #5 Barton in Great Bend on Saturday, September 21st, at 6:00 p.m., then play Hutchinson on Monday, September 23rd, before taking on #6 Colby on Wednesday, September 25th.
