Volleyball Moves to 2-0 in KJCCC Action With Road Sweep of Cloud County

Box Score For the second straight year, the Dodge City volleyball team has opened Jayhawk Conference play 2-0 after taking down Cloud County 3-0 on the road with a 25-21, 25-18, 25-23 three-set victory. 

The win moves the Conquistadors to 9-6 on the season and 2-0 in KJCCC action in eight of their last nine matches. Conqs also snapped a two-match losing streak versus Cloud County and have won seven of the previous nine meetings. 

The Conqs would open the night with a 25-21 first-set victory and then come from behind to rattle off seven straight points late in the second set to grab it 25-18. Falling behind early in the third set the Conqs once again overcame the deficit and pushed back to edge Cloud County 25-23 to win the match. 

Agnes Hegardt tallied nine kills, while Beatriz Lampugnani Cornachini had six kills, six aces, and 11 digs on the night. Sila Yildiz added seven kills on a .600 hitting percentage and Amariah White chipped in six kills. Leisey Keli'i had a team-high 13 digs in the win, while Hayden Pinard finished with a double-double with 17 assists and 11 digs. 

The Conqs have a quick turnaround as they travel to Sterling, Colorado for the Sheila Worley Invitational hosted by Northeastern Junior College on Friday and Saturday, September 13th and 14th. On the docket for the Conqs are matches against Casper, Laramie County, #17 Western Nebraska, and #11 Utah State Eastern.
