Paris Santacaterina Earns Third Team NJCAA DI Women's Basketball All-American Honors

April 09, 2024

The Dodge City women's basketball program has over the past few years etched its name in the school record books and achieved many great accomplishments.

The honors continue to come this season for the Conquistadors as Paris Santacaterina becomes the first Conq women's basketball player since 1987 to earn NJCAA All-American honors and only third in school history.

Santacaterina earned third-team NJCAA Division I All-American honors after helping the Conqs to a 27-7 record, a NJCAA DI National Tournament appearance, and the program first first-ever win at the National Tournament.

The sophomore helped lead the charge for the Conqs as the lone returner from the 2022-23 team coming into the 2023-24 season. She led the team in scoring at 14.9 points per game on 44.5% shooting adding six rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.7 steals per game on the season.

She finishes her career being a big piece of the Conqs' huge success for women's basketball the past two years as the team went 56-11 overall and 42-6 in KJCCC play during her two seasons at Dodge City. As a freshman, she helped the team win the KJCCC title for the first time since 1988 and make the NJCAA National Tournament for the first time, while racking up 29 wins which is the most in a single season in program history. This season she helped the team finish second in the KJCCC and return to the NJCAA National Tournament where the Conqs would win their first-ever National Tournament game.

Santacaterina caps her Dodge City career with her name in the record books as she ranks in the Top 10 in school history in several categories for single-season and career. In a single season, she ranks tied for second in assists (152), fourth in free throw percentage (85.3%), fifth in three-point field goals made (73), eighth in field goals made (179), and 10th in points (506). In her career, she ranks tied for third in assists (226), seventh in three-point field goals made (101), ninth in field goals made (275), 10th in free throw percentage (79.1%), and 10th in points (767).

Paris becomes just the third Conq women's basketball player to ever earn NJCAA All-American honors and gives the school 215 total NJCAA All-Americans.
