Softball Struggles to Get Bats Going Falling to #16 Butler

the trek to El Dorado for a doubleheader with #16 Butler. The Conquistadors would struggle to get the bats going and fell 10-1 and 8-0 both in five innings. 

The losses drop the Conqs to 3-17 on the season and 3-7 in KJCCC action. 

Up next conference play continues for the Conqs as they host Colby on Saturday, March 16th for a doubleheader starting at 1:00 pm. 

Game 1 – Lost 10-1 at Butler
The Conqs would see Butler snag the early lead on the day as the Grizzlies tallied three runs in the bottom of the first inning. In the top of the second, the Conqs would open the inning with a walk drawn by Rylie Miller and then Abigail Zabel notched a hit to get two runners on and a groundout by Camryn Lenz would bring in a run making it 3-1. In the bottom of the second Butler responded with six runs and would add another in the fourth. In the top of the fifth, the Conqs would work a pair of base runners on via walks but would be unable to score and fall 10-1 in five innings. 

In the loss, Zabel tallied the Conqs lone hit in the contest and drew a walk. while Miller scored the lone run and drew a walk. Lenz tallied an RBI with a walk while starting the game in the circle tossing two innings. Josie Oakley tossed two innings of relief giving up just one run on two hits and a walk. 

Game 2 – Lost 8-0 at Butler
The second game of the day would see Butler plate some early runs just like the first as the Grizzlies scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning. Conqs base runners would be limited throughout the game with just two hits as they struggled to get things going. Butler would add to their lead scoring two in the third and four in the fourth ultimately leading to the Conqs falling 8-0 in five innings.

Oakley was 1-2 with a double for the Conqs while Abigail Taylor also went 1-2 in the loss. Toni Gabaldon tossed all four innings in the contest.
