Dodge City men's basketball traveled to Concordia and did battle with Cloud County in KJCCC action falling 60-49 as a sluggish offense night did in the Conquistadors.
The loss moves the Conqs to 9-14 on the season and 7-10 in KJCCC play, as the Conqs split the season series with the Thunderbirds.
It was a slow start to the night for the Conqs falling behind 13-5 over the first eight minutes of action going just 2-10 from the floor. The deficit for the Conqs would grow as the first half continued leading to a 36-17 lead for Cloud County at intermission. The second half would see the Conqs start to find their way as they chipped away at the lead drawing to within 10 multiple times late in the contest including at 55-45 with 4:13 remaining in the contest. The Conqs however would be unable to get the lead under 10 until the final minutes running out of time to fully comeback falling 60-49 on the road.
The Conqs shot under 30% from the floor for only the third time this season shooting 29.8%, while also struggling to maintain possession as they amassed 22 turnovers. Cloud County countered by shooting 40.4% for the contest and winning the rebounding battle by eight but did have 23 turnovers themselves.
Jamari Gamble led the Conqs in the loss posting 17 points on 7-13 shooting adding six rebounds. Chevalier "Ice" Emery added 14 points with three steals and two rebounds, while
Hunter Duncan added nine points, nine rebounds, four steals, and three assists.
Jackson Swartz grabbed 10 rebounds in the contest.
