Dodge City women's basketball surpassed the century for the second time this season and the fifth time under Head Coach
Landon Steele claiming a 105-89 victory over Pratt in a high-scoring affair.
The win moves the Conquistadors to 19-3 on the season and 13-3 in KJCCC action, win also makes it three straight seasons for the Conqs with at least 19 wins overall and 13 conference wins. In the series, the Conqs have won six straight against Pratt.
The Conqs jumped up early working to an 18-7 advantage against Pratt with just three and a half minutes left in the first quarter. The lead would evaporate for the Conqs as Pratt went on a run to finish the first stanza drawing to within three by the end of the first 10 minutes as it was 26-23. The Conqs would see Pratt snag the lead early in the second quarter, but the Conqs would finish the first half strong outscoring Pratt 19-8 over the final five and half minutes. Headed into halftime the Conqs held a 54-44 lead. The strong shooting performance from both teams would continue in the second half and the Conqs would use their double-figure halftime lead to keep Pratt looking up the rest of the game as the Conqs secured the 105-89 win.
The Conqs finished the game shooting 52.4% from the field, making 14 three-pointers in the contest, while Pratt finished shooting 45.2% from the floor and hit 14 threes. Defensively the Conqs forced Pratt into 18 turnovers while having a season-low nine turnovers of their own. Conqs also recorded 24 assists on 43 made field goals and blocked 10 shots.
Six players in double figures paced the Conqs on the night with a career-high 19 points by
Tayah Morgan leading the charge.
Paris Santacaterina posted a double-double with 18 points and 11 assists while adding five rebounds and two steals.
Parris Atkins chipped in 17 points, five rebounds, three assists, and three steals, while both
Shorna Preston and
Kyriana Jones each scored 13 points. Preston added five rebounds and four blocks.
Mia Jordan off the bench contributed a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds along with two assists and three blocks.
