Dodge City women's basketball picked up their 24th win of the season and fourth in a row as they took down Coffeyville on the road 70-57.
The victory for the Conquistadors moves them to 24-4 on the season and 18-4 in KJCCC action with just two games remaining in the regular season.
Back-and-forth throughout the first quarter the lead changed hands multiple times as the contest was a one-possession game until the two-minute mark of the first quarter. Conqs with some free throws from Kyriana Jones and a three-pointer from Paris Santacaterina the Conqs lead would be up to five. At the end of the first quarter, the Conqs were in front 20-13 holding their largest lead of the contest against Coffeyville. With just under four and half minutes left in the first half, the Conqs lead hit double figures for the first time in the game at 30-20 on a Mia Jordan free throw. The lead would remain double digits going into halftime as the Conqs led 33-23 at intermission. The double-figure lead established by the Conqs would be enough for them to hold off advances from Coffeyville and ultimately secure the 70-57 win on the road.
The Conqs finished the contest shooting 44.8% from the field and had a solid defensive contest holding Coffeyville to 35.8% from the field and 4-13 from three-point range.
Jones led the Conqs on the night with 18 points on 6-13 shooting and 6-8 from the charity stripe along with five rebounds. Santacaterina chipped in 17 points with four rebounds and four assists. Five other Conqs scored all recording six to eight points each in the win.
