Women's Basketball Cruises Past Northwest Kansas Tech On the Road

Dodge City women's basketball picked up their 22nd win of the season in routing fashion beating Northwest Kansas Tech 92-55. 

The win moves the Conquistadors to 22-4 on the season and 16-4 in KJCCC, while also marking the eighth straight win over the Mavericks and wins in 12 of the 13 meetings. 

The matchup opened up looking like to could be a duel for the Conqs as Northwest Kansas Tech stayed stride for stride with them in the first quarter and even held the lead at moments. The Conqs only led 20-19 after the first 10 minutes of action but the game changed completely in the second stanza as the Conqs would outscore the Mavericks 21-6 in the quarter. The second quarter would commence with the Conqs dumping in points over the first five minutes from several avenues and going on a 16-0 run to take firm control of the contest and lead 41-25 at halftime. The Conqs would surpass the 20-point plateau in the third and fourth quarters also outscoring Northwest Kansas Tech 23-10 in the third to expand the lead and cruise to the 92-55 victory. 

Offensively the Conqs shot 41.7% from the field, hitting 14 three-pointers and went 8-10 from the free throw line and had 21 assists, while the defense held the Mavericks to just 28.6% shooting and forced 19 turnovers. The Conqs also controlled the boards as they outrebounded the Mavericks 50-33. 

Paris Santacaterina led the Conqs with a double-double as she tallied 22 points and 10 rebounds along with three assists and two steals. Monique Rudder chipped in 10 points for her second double digit scoring performance of the year for the Conqs. Eight other Conqs had five to nine points on the night to spread out the scoring. 

Up next the Conqs return home to take on Seward County on Wednesday, February 21st at 5:30 pm; it will be sophomore night as they Conq sophomores will be recognized before the game.
