Safety, Sam Brooks has earned NJCAA first team All-American honors at defensive back; he becomes the 43rd Conquistador football player to earn All-American status and 20th to earn first team honors.

Brooks capped his Conquistador football career with a strong sophomore season that saw him lead the Conqs on defense as the top tackler on the team. The Florida native recorded a team-high 89 tackles (20 more than the second highest on the team) along with 6.5 tackles for loss, a fumble recovery, and a blocked kick. He earned first-team All-Conference KJCCC honors as he led the KJCCC in tackles per game at 8.9 and ranked second in the KJCCC in total tackles.

His 89 total tackles rank 11th best in the NJCAA and were the most by a defensive back in the NJCAA. He recorded double-figure tackles in four games during the 2024 season and had a career-high against Iowa Western and Hutchinson.

In his two-year career, Brooks totaled 105 tackles in 19 games with a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and a blocked kick. He helped Dodge City to back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since 2015 and 2016 as the Conqs finished 6-4 for the 2024 season and #15 nationally and were 8-3 in 2023 finishing ranked #6 winning the Wool Bowl. Brooks was part of the first-ever bowl game victory for the Dodge City football program as the Conqs won the Wool Bowl 37-6 over New Mexico Military Institute to cap the 2023 season.

Brooks will continue his collegiate football career next year at Boise State University as he has signed with the Broncos and will transfer to the four-year institution in the spring of 2025.

He is the 217th NJCAA All-American in Dodge City CC school history.
