Dodge City men's basketball found a groove at the State Fair Classic opening the action in Sedalia, Missouri with a 79-69 win over Moberly Area to earn the first win of the season. 

The Conquistadors would separate themselves with an 8-0 run to lead 24-16 with just under 12 minutes left in the first half. The lead worked to double figures with eight and half minutes remaining in the first half as it would go up to 16 with a Mynor Strong three-pointer with two and half minutes before halftime. At intermission, the Conqs led 46-32 and would push it back out further in the second half going up by 18 with five and half minutes remaining when Strong converted a four-point play. The Conqs would use the sizeable lead to hold off Moberly Area securing a 79-69 victory. 

The Conqs shot 48.3% from the field and hit 14 three-pointers in the win and controlled the boards 44-25. 

Strong paced the Conqs dropping 24 points including 7-10 from three-point range and 8-12 from the field. Jamari Gamble chipped in 13 points on 4-6 shooting, while six more Conqs had six or seven points. Derrick Rivers tallied seven points, while Wesly Rosa finished with six points, 12 rebounds, and five blocks. 

The win moves the Conqs to 1-4 on the season as they wrapped up the State Fair Classic against the host, State Fair on Saturday.
