Men's Basketball Falters Late Against Colby

Dodge City men's basketball squared off with Colby in KJCCC action at home and despite owning a lead all first half the Conquistadors were unable to grab the victory falling 77-67. 
 
The loss sends the Conqs to 7-13 on the season and 5-9 in KJCCC action. 
 
The Conqs opened the contest strong leaping out to a 11-2 lead forcing an early Colby timeout. The lead would grow to double figures and the Conqs would continually hold the advantage all the way to halftime, but Colby chipped at the lead drawing to within two at 31-29 by intermission. Colby opened the second half with a bucket and free throw and took their first lead of the contest at 32-31. The Conqs would answer but the matchup would go back-and-forth with each team owning the lead multiple times until the contest was tied 55-55 with just under seven and a half minutes left in the game. Over the next two minutes of action, Colby took control of the contest mounting a 10-0 run to take ahold of the game. The Conqs would try to push back over the final minutes, but Colby utilized the lead they established to snag the 77-67 road win for themselves. 
 
In the loss, the Conqs shot just 34.4% from the floor and went 15-18 from the free throw line, but Colby countered by shooting 45.6% and going 18-22 from the free throw line. 
 
Avnoor Bhullar dropped in a career-high 23 points for the Conqs hitting six three-pointers and grabbing seven rebounds. Chevalier "Ice" Emery also added 23 points going 10-11 from the charity stripe on the day and had two rebounds, two assists, and four assists. Jayse Boatwright chipped in nine points, six rebounds, and three assists. 
 
The Conqs hit the road for their next contest as they will square off with Independence on Wednesday, January 31st at 7:30 pm.
