Dodge City men's basketball struggled to stay with a hot-shooting Garden City team on Wednesday night falling 109-72.
The Conquistadors with the loss move to 7-11 on the season and 5-7 in KJCCC action.
Garden City worked out to a 6-0 start, but the Conqs would respond with a 5-0 run to make it 6-5 three and a half minutes into the contest. It would remain a two-possession game until the 14-minute mark when Garden City pushed their lead to 15-7. The lead would grow to double figures for Garden City as they would shoot over 60% from the floor in the first half and the Conqs struggled to stay with the Broncbusters leading to a 52-32 score at halftime. The lead proved to be too much to overcome in the second half as the Conqs would put up 40 points in the second half but Garden City countered with 57 of their own and took the victory 109-72.
In the loss the Conqs would finish the game shooting 40.3% but just 5-21 from three-point range and were outrebounded by seven, while Garden City shot 57.7% from the field and 16-27 from three-point range.
Avnoor Bhullar led the Conqs with 15 points off the bench adding six rebounds, while
Jackson Swartz recorded a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds, adding four assists and two blocks, also.
Jamari Gamble tallied 12 points along with six assists and four rebounds, while Chevalier "Ice" Emery scored 11 points.
Tyree Jackson chipped in 10 points off the bench for the Conqs.
The Conqs will be back in action against #14 Hutchinson on Wednesday, January 24th at 7:30 pm as they have a bye this Saturday.
