At home for the first time this season, the Dodge City volleyball team didn't disappoint in front of the home crowd with a dominating straight-set sweep of #20 Barton Cougars. 
 
The Conquistadors jumped on the Cougars early and earned the 3-0 win with 25-15, 25-19, 25-23 scores. The win moves the Conqs to 8-5 on the season and 1-1 in KJCCC play. 
 
Jumping up early to open the match the Conqs set the tone early leading 4-1 in the first set and that lead grew over the course of the contest ballooning to 22-11 as the Conqs took the first set 25-15. The second set saw the Conqs fly out of the gate to a 5-0 start, but Barton battled back to make it a one-point contest at 9-8 and then drew within in two at 17-15 but the Conqs maintained the lead and secured the second set 25-19. Set three saw Barton take the early lead and even go up by six at 16-10 but the Conqs would go on an 8-2 run to tie the set at 18-18. Barton countered the Conqs run by stringing together three straight points, but the match would be tied again by the Conqs at 23-23 and then the Conqs tallied the final two points to take the set 25-23. 
 
Tess De Zanet had a monster contest finishing with a career-best 21 kills on a .341 hitting percentage while adding 11 digs for a double-double. 
Beatriz Lampugnani Cornachini chipped in 11 kills and six digs, while 
Agnes Hegardt has three solo blocks and seven block assists. 
Sierra Scanlan finished with a double-double with 34 assists and 12 digs, while 
Leisey Keli'i recorded 14 digs. 
 
Back to action quickly for the Conqs as they will travel to Sterling, Colorado on Friday, September 8th, and Saturday, September 9th to compete at the Northeastern Tournament playing some tough competition including New Mexico Military Institute, Iowa Western, Snow, and Western Nebraska.
