Dodge City volleyball team finished out the non-conference slate of their schedule over the weekend competing at the Northeastern Tournament in Sterling, Colorado, and would avenge a pair of early season losses while ultimately going 2-2 in action. 
The Conquistadors opened the tournament facing off with #10 New Mexico Military Institute and would fall 3-0 (25-12, 25-9, 27-25), but responded to cap day one of the tournament by sweeping Iowa Western 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-15). Day two saw the Conqs run into a strong Snow team dropping the contest 3-1 (13-25, 25-21, 25-16, 26-24) but would cap the tournament with a 3-0 victory over Western Nebraska (25-15, 25-19, 25-19). 
In the first match of the tournament, the Conqs took on NMMI and were unable to over early deficits in the first two sets before pushing NMMI to the limit in the third set taking it to extra points. 
Beatriz Lampugnani Cornachini tallied 12 kills and eight digs, while 
Tess De Zanet added seven kills and eight digs. 
Sierra Scanlan finished with 21 assists, eight digs, and four kills, while 
Leisey Keli'i added 10 digs. 
Conqs capped day one by avenging their season-opening loss to Iowa Western this time bringing out the brooms earning a three-set sweep of the Reivers. After grabbing the first two sets in tight battles the Conqs controlled the third set to tally the win. De Zanet led the Conqs with 15 kills, while Cornachini recorded another double-double with 11 kills and 10 digs. Scanlan continued to find ways to impact the game in multiple facets for the Conqs as she finished with 30 assists, nine digs, and six digs. Keli'i added 15 digs in the win. 
Day two of the tournament saw the Conqs start strong snagging the first set but Snow responded and would win the next three sets in tight contests. It was a career-high in kills for De Zanet as she posted 25 kills on a .346 hitting percentage while adding nine digs. Keli'i was strong defensively with 23 digs, while recording a pair of assists and an ace. It was a double-double for Scanlan as she had 39 assists and 20 digs. 
To finish the Northeastern Tournament the Conqs would once again avenge an early season loss this time taking down Western Nebraska and doing so in three sets controlling the matchup to earn the win. De Zanet led the Conqs with 13 kills, while Cornachini chipped in six and 
Madison Wallman tallied five kills. Once again Scanlan had her fingerprints all over the match with 22 assists, seven digs, and two kills, while Keli'i had 18 digs, four assists, and two aces. 
The Conqs now turn their attention fully to conference play for the remainder of the season and they will continue the season on Wednesday, September 13th when they hit the road to take on Seward County at 6:30 pm.
