Dodge City men's soccer stepped outside conference play on Saturday for a neutral site tilt with Crowder down in Enid, Oklahoma, and secured a 2-1 win by netting the game-winning goal in the final minute of the contest.
The Conquistadors would fall behind in the first half despite outshooting Crowder 12-5 in the first half alone as Crowder scored 22 minutes into the contest. In the second half, the Conqs would only get six shot opportunities but took advantage tying the match in the 53rd minute as
Andres Rocha tallied the goal with an assist from
Arthur Lemeunier. Tied at 1-1 in the final moments of the contest the Conqs found a way to fire another shot and Rocha pushed it in for the goal in the 89th minute lifting the Conqs to the 2-1 win.
In the win, the Conqs would outshot Crowder 18-7 while
Daniel Ruiz picked up the win in goal playing all 90 minutes and recording four saves.
The victory moves the Conqs to 3-1 on the season and they now turn their attention to KJCCC action again as they will travel to Arkansas City to take on #3 Cowley on Wednesday, September 6th at 7:00 pm.
