Box Score Early offense by the opposition ultimately doomed the Dodge City men's soccer on the road against #3 Cowley Tigers as the Conquistadors fell 4-2.
The Conqs would fall behind early as Cowley poked in a goal in the fourth minute of the contest, then another in the eighth minute, and another in the 11th minute to have a big 3-0 lead. The Conqs would not go away fighting back and in the 31st minute broke through with an
Aaron Melgar goal on a great pass from
Justin Gomes. Trailing 3-1 coming out of halftime the Conqs would get on the board less than five minutes into the second half as Melgar cleaned up an opportunity and the Conqs took advantage of a Cowley mistake to make it a one-goal game. It would remain a one-goal contest until the 61st minute when Cowley tallied their fourth goal ultimately leading to a 4-2 final.
Melgar tallied both goals for the Conqs on four shots, while
Eric Zalaya in goal had seven saves in the contest as Cowley fired off 25 shots overall.
Up next the Conqs return home on Saturday, September 9th to take on Garden City at 3:00 pm.
