Volleyball Falls In KJCCC Opener at Hutchinson

Box Score traveled to Hutchinson to face off with the Blue Dragons. The Conquistadors would struggle out of the gate and were unable to overcome the early struggles falling in four sets (25-19, 25-13, 10-25, 25-19). 

The loss moves the Conqs to 4-4 on the season and 0-1 in KJCCC play. 

The Conqs would struggle to find their groove early as the Blue Dragons capitalized on some Conq mistakes to grab control of the first set and ultimately take it 25-19. In the second set Hutchinson secured control early and dominated the set taking it 25-13. The script was flipped in the third set as the Conqs came alive and would have a .577 hitting percentage in the set with 15 kills and dominated the set grabbing it 25-10 to remain in the contest. The fourth set however once again saw some struggles for the Conqs and despite keeping it close Hutchinson took the fourth set 25-19 and won the match 3-1. 

In the loss Beatriz Lampugnani Cornachini recorded a double-double with 15 kills and 10 digs, adding a pair of solo blocks and two block assists. Agnes Hegardt had seven kills, while both Sierra Scanlan and Caitlyn Sonday each tallied six kills. Scanlan added 10 assists and 12 digs to her night while Sonday hit .455 for the match and had six block assists. Leisey Keli'i recorded 17 digs and Hayden Pinard tallied 16 assists. 

The Conqs are back in action quickly as they will travel to McCook, Nebraska for the McCook Invitational playing four matches on Friday and Saturday, September 1st and 2nd.
