Dodge City men's soccer opened KJCCC play hosting #11 Barton and it would be a battle on the pitch with the Cougars taking control in the second half netting a pair of goals to secure the 2-0 victory.
The Conquistadors kept the contest tight early in the contest throughout the first half leading to a scoreless ballgame at intermission, but in the second half, Barton would out-shot the Conqs 11-2 and control the contest. The match remained scoreless until the 76th minute when Barton took the lead on their first goal, coming after 14 minutes early the Conqs went a man down due to a pair of yellow cards leading to the red.
Conqs saw Barton snag another goal in the 83rd minute ultimately putting the Conqs on their heels more leading to the 2-0 decision in favor of Barton.
The Conqs were out-shot in the loss 16-4 in the contest with shots on goal from Sam Hetsron Etienne and Angel Andreu. Eric Zalaya in the loss recording five saves.
The loss moves the Conqs to 1-1 on the season and 0-1 in KJCCC play. Up next the Conqs travel to Kansas City, Kansas to take on KCK for more KJCCC action on Saturday, August 26th.
