Dodge City football program looks to continue to take steps forward as they head into the 2023 season. The 2023 schedule has been set and it is stacked with top-notch opponents for the Conquistadors to face off with.
The Conquistadors will have an action-packed slate of games on the docket for the 2023 season with five games at home and five on the road. The schedule will feature the six other KJCCC schools along with all three schools from Iowa and another non-conference tilt against a topflight NJCAA opponent.Â
The schedule includes matchups with four of the Top five teams from the final 2022 NJCAA Division I rankings and a top of seven matchups against teams that finished the 2022 season ranked Top 10 in the NJCAA DI national rankings.Â
Conqs will open the season at home as they host the defending national champions, Iowa Western on Saturday, August 26th with a 1:00 pm kickoff. This will mark the third straight year the Conqs will open their season on the gridiron with a matchup against the Reivers of Iowa Western.Â
Up next to open the month of September the Conqs hit the road for back-to-back road games on the east side of Kansas as they will travel to Coffeyville and Highland. First up is the Red Ravens of Coffeyville on Saturday, September 2nd with a 7:00 pm kickoff, and then a trip to take on the Scotties of Highland on September 9th with a 1:00 pm kickoff.Â
After a bye week on September 16th the Conqs are back home on Saturday, September 23rd for a non-conference tilt with Snow who finished the 2022 season ranked #4 in the final NJCAA rankings. The game against the Badgers will be a 1:00 pm kickoff. To wrap September the Conqs will host rival Garden City on Saturday 30th in a night contest at Memorial Stadium as the game is slated for a 7:00 pm kickoff.Â
The Conqs then hit the road again as they will travel to Hutchinson and Ellsworth in the first two weeks of October. First up to open the month of October is a showdown with the defending KJCCC champions the Hutchinson Blue Dragons on Saturday, October 7th with a 1:00 pm kickoff. Then the Conqs will make the long trek to Iowa to take on Ellsworth on Saturday, October 14th with a noon kickoff.Â
On Saturday, October 21st the Conqs are back home playing their final matchup against the Iowa schools as they will host the Tritons of Iowa Central for a 1:00 pm kick. Conqs finish October with their second bye week and then will have their final home game of the season against Butler on Saturday, November 4th, and will wrap the season on Saturday, November 11th on the road against Independence in a 1:00 pm kickoff.Â
The Conqs are coming off a 3-7 season under Head Coach, Terry Karg who enters his second season at the helm for the Conqs headed into the 2023 season.
