Dodge City softball team snagged a pair of KJCCC wins as the Conquistadors dispatched Pratt in a pair of five-inning contests winning 15-1 and 12-2.
The Conqs with the wins move to 15-20 on the season and 10-12 in KJCCC play, while now having a 24-game winning streak in the series against the Beavers of Pratt.
It's back to action quickly for the Conqs as they will host Northwest Kansas Tech on Thursday, April 13th in a doubleheader starting at noon.
Game 1 – Won 15-1 vs Pratt (5 innings)
The Conqs took control early on the day after working around a pair of Pratt base runners in the top of the first the Conqs batted around in the bottom of the first with three hits, two walks, and three Pratt errors to score six runs. An RBI single by K'lee Flores in the second added a run for the Conqs, while in the top of the third Pratt broke through to get on the board with a run. The bottom of the third saw the Conqs answer back with three runs highlighted by a two-RBI single by
Addison Spencer and then in the fourth scored five more including a two-run home run by
Jaden Nagle and RBI triple by
Madison Kacer. The Conqs would retire Pratt in order in the top of the fifth to finish out the game and secure the 15-1 win.
Flores earned the win in the circle tossing all five innings giving up just one run on five hits and one walk, while striking out four and was 2-3 with a run scored and RBI at the plate. Nagle added a 1-2 game with a home run, three runs scored, a walk, and three RBI, while Kacer was 1-1 with a triple, RBI, hit by pitch, walk, and two runs scored.
Melanie Castro added a 2-3 game with three RBI and two runs scored, while Spencer added a 2-3 game with a run scored and two RBI. Izabella MIkelson had a hit and scored three runs and
Jaciana Rivera was 1-1 with an RBI single.
Game 2 – Won 12-2 vs Pratt (5 innings)
The second game of the day saw Pratt jump on the early lead with a run in the first inning, but the Conqs had an answer in the bottom of the first scoring five runs by batting around. An inside-the-park home run by Castro opened the inning and an RBI double by Flores also highlighted the inning. Conqs tacked on two more runs with one in the second and the third also, before blowing the game wide open in the fourth with five runs. In the fifth Spencer led the inning off with a solo home run and then Kacer smacked a two-run homer later in the inning also while Castro had a two-RBI single. The Conqs would see Pratt manage to get on the board again in the top of the fifth, but it would not be enough as the Conqs grabbed the 12-2 win.
Dalaney Utajara earned the win in the circle tossing all five innings, giving up two runs on five hits and one walk. At the plate Castro was 2-3 with a home run, two runs scored, a walk, and three RBI, while
Raemie Lopp was 2-3 with a run scored. Kacer was 1-2 with a home run, two RBI, a walk, and two runs scored, as Nagle added a 1-1 game with a walk and three runs scored.
