Softball Drops Road Doubleheader Against Seward County

Dodge City softball team was back in action after spring break and hit the road for KJCCC action taking on Seward County. The Conquistadors dropped a pair of contests falling 4-1 and 13-1 in five innings. 
 
The losses for the Conqs move them to 12-10 on the season and 7-5 in KJCCC action. 
 
Conqs continue the season on Wednesday, March 22nd at home when they are slated to host Barton for a 2:00 pm doubleheader. 
 
Game 1 – Lost 4-1 at Seward County 
The bottom of the first saw Seward grab the early lead as the Conqs surrendered a pair of runs to the Saints and the Conqs would struggle to get the offense going throughout the contest. In the fifth Seward tallied two more runs and took a 4-0 lead into the seventh. In the top of the seventh K'lee Flores opened the inning with a double and would score on an RBI single by Rylie Hufford but that would be the only run the Conqs mustered in the game falling 4-1. 
 
Hufford led the Conqs offense going 2-3, while Addison Spencer was 1-3 with a double and Flores finished 1-2 with a run scored and walk. In the circle, Flores tossed all six innings giving up four runs on nine hits and two walks, with four strikeouts. 
 
Game 2 – Lost 13-1 at Seward County (5 innings) 
Game two saw an early lead garnered by Seward just like game one but this time it was a bigger lead as the Saints scored a run in the bottom of the first and then eight more in the second. The Conqs would break through in the top of the third as Spencer would bring in Jaden Nagle on an RBI double after Nagle led the inning off with a walk. In the bottom of the third Seward added four more runs and despite getting a pair of base runners in the fifth the Conqs would fall 13-1 in five innings. 
 
In the loss, Spencer was 3-3 with a pair of doubles and an RBI, while Mia Golka, Melanie Castro, and Izabella Mikelson each recorded a hit.
