Softball Powers By Pratt Earning Pair of KJCCC Road Wins

Dodge City softball picked up two more KJCCC wins winning in routing fashion on the road with 12-2 and 12-3 five-inning victories. 

The Conquistadors with the pair of wins improve to 12-8 on the season and 7-3 in KJCCC play. The Conqs have now won 10 of the last 13 games. 

The season rolls on for the Conqs after a week off as they will be back in action against Butler on the road in El Dorado on Saturday, March 18th for a doubleheader starting at 1:00 pm. 

Game 1 – Won 12-2 at Pratt (5 innings) 
It was an offense party for the Conqs on the day and it got started early in the first inning of the first game as the Conqs scored eight runs to take early control versus the Beavers of Pratt. The scoring opened on an RBI double by Addison Spencer in the first inning to score the first run of the game and then Camryn Lenz followed with a two-run home run making it 3-0. Conqs would add five more runs in the first inning all with two outs with a two-RBI double by Melanie Castro and a two-RBI single by Alicyn O'Neill highlighting helping produce those runs. Pratt would tally a run in the first and second innings, but the Conqs answered in the fourth as Lenz and Izabella Mikelson recorded RBI doubles to score runs and the Conqs ultimately tallied four in the inning leading to the 12-2 win in five innings. 

Conqs out-hit Pratt 18-3 in the contest. Seven Conqs recorded multi-hit games in the win including a 3-4 performance with a run scored, double, stolen base, and two RBI for Castro. O'Neill finished 3-4 with two RBI, a run scored, and a stolen base, while Reneau Ratzlaff was 3-3 with two runs scored and a double. Mikelson, Lenz, Spencer, and K'lee Flores each recorded two hits. 

Flores was strong in the circle again tossing all five innings to earn the win giving up just two runs on three hits and no walks, while striking out five. 

Game 2 – Won 12-3 at Pratt (5 innings)
The offense outpouring continued for the Conqs in game two of the twin bill with Pratt as the Conqs were back to early scoring just like game one. In the first inning, the Conqs tallied seven runs taking advantage of multiple Pratt miscues partnered with some hits. Conqs tacked on another run in the second and three more in the third with RBI doubles by Lenz and Jaciana Rivera highlighting the third. With one more run in the fourth, the Conqs would finish the game in the fifth inning as Pratt tallied only three runs with the game ending 12-3 in favor of the Conqs. 

The Conqs would out-hit Pratt 11-5 in the game and take advantage of seven Pratt errors. Castro had another three-hit game finishing 3-4 with two runs scored, a double, and a stolen base, while Lenz went 2-3 with two runs scored, a double, and RBI. Six other Conqs recorded a hit including Ratzlaff and Rivera who each had two RBIs, also. 

Dalaney Utajara earned the win in the circle tossing five solid innings giving up just three runs on five hits and two walks with one strikeout.
