Dodge City women's basketball notched another tally mark in the win column after dispatching of Garden City on Saturday with a 75-52 win.
The win marks the 14
th straight win as the Conquistadors improved to 21-2 on the season and 16-1 in conference play. Conqs also remain undefeated at home at 12-0 this season and have won 17-straight at home.
It was a slow start to the contest for both teams and it was back-and-forth throughout the first quarter of action leading to a 12-12 tie after the first ten times of action. The Conqs would manage to open things up in the second quarter as the Conqs mounted a 15-5 run over the first five minutes of the second to grow the lead out to double figures. Garden City countered to finish the first half on a strong note including a buzzer-beating bucket to make it just 32-29 at intermission. The Conqs would continue to push ahead in the second half adding to the lead by five-points by the end of third quarter and then secure the game with a 24-11 fourth quarter. The Conqs would claim the 75-52 victory.
Conqs shot 41.2% in the contest while holding the Broncbusters to just 28.1% marking the fourth-straight game holding an opponent to under 35% shooting. The Conqs also won the rebound battle +9 (43-34) and shared the ball well with 16 assists.
Leah Mafua led the Conqs with 20 points on 7-15 shooting, adding seven rebounds and four assists.
Georgia Gray recorded a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds, matching her career-high in points.
Bree Stephens chipped in 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds, while
Jada Burton chipped in 10 points.
The Conqs will be back in action on Wednesday, February 8
th at 5:30 pm when they host #21 Butler.
