Dodge City men's basketball claimed a share of the KJCCC title after out dueling Pratt on the road claiming a 99-94 victory.
The win moves the Conquistadors to 22-7 on the season and 18-5 in KJCCC action helping the Conqs claim back-to-back KJCCC titles. Conqs will look for the out-right title on Wednesday against Barton as they can claim the out-right title with a win.
It would be back-and-forth through most of the first half as the Conqs pushed ahead by eight at 19-11 for their largest lead of the first half at the time. That lead was short lived as Pratt closed to within two at 19-17 after a 6-0 run but the Conqs countered with a 9-2 run to grab control again. That 9-2 run turned into the Conqs outscoring Pratt 14-4 over a long stretch to grow the lead to 12 points with just over nine minutes remain in the first half. The Conqs would maintain the advantage going into halftime up 55-45. The second half would see the Conqs maintain their lead holding a 10-point margin in their favor at 91-81. The lead would hold but Pratt cut into in the final portion of the game as the Conqs captured the 99-94 win.
Conqs shot 43.8% in the contest hitting nine three-pointers and were strong from the charity stripe going 22-25 from the line, while Pratt shot 43.5% but only 29.4% from three-point range.
A quartet of double figure scorers helped the Conqs to the win as
Jason Edwards dropped 24 points on 7-17 shooting and was 5-5 from the free throw line while grabbing seven rebounds.
Chris Robinson chipped in 19 points going 7-7 from the charity stripe, while
DJ Jones tallied 18 points on 6-10 shooting and 5-6 from the free throw line adding five rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
Jacobi Sebock added 16 points, eight rebounds, and three blocks on the evening.
The Conqs will vie for the outright KJCCC title in the regular season finale on Wednesday, March 1
st against Barton at 7:30 pm at home.
