It was a 3-1 weekend road trip to Texas last week for the Dodge City softball team as the Conquistadors picked up their first wins of the season and the pitching performance of K'lee Flores stood out to earn her KJCCC DI "Pitcher of the Week" honors.
Flores and the Conqs opened the weekend sweeping Howard in a doubleheader that had Flores fingerprints all over the games. She tossed full seven innings in game one versus Howard striking out four and keeping the Conqs in the game to earn the win in the circle. Flores also added 2-5 performance at the plate with a home run, two RBI, and run scored in game one. Game two of the series saw Flores come in to earn the save tossing the final 1.2 innings without giving up a run, hit or walk and struckout two. The sophomore from Lubbock added a 1-3 performance at the plate in game two hit a solo home run and drew a walk.
She also appeared inside the circle for the Conqs in game two of a doubleheader with Western Texas in which the Conqs earned the win and Flores got the win in the circle tossing all seven innings giving up just five runs on 11 hits and four walks and struckout six. She also was 1-3 with a walk and run scored in the win.
On the season she is 2-2 with a save making six appearances tossing 28.1 innings with 16 strikeouts. She is also batting .235 with four hits, three runs scored, four RBI, three walks, and two home runs.
The Conqs open Conference play on Saturday, February 25
th at home against Northwest Kansas Tech for a doubleheader at 1:00 and 3:00 pm, and then welcome Lamar to town on Monday, February 27
th against Lamar at 2:00 and 4:00 pm.
