Men's Basketball Early Season Loss With Road Win Over Hutchinson

Dodge City men's basketball avenged one of their earlier season losses as they split the season series with Hutchinson by claiming a 104-88 victory as they surpassed the century mark for the fourth time this season. 
 
The win moves the Conquistadors to 19-6 on the season and 15-4 in KJCCC action, while stretching the Conqs win streak to five-straight games. 
 
The first half would be a see-saw affair as both teams would trade buckets and runs each owning leads at multiple times throughout the first half. Over the final five minutes of the first half the Conqs would outscore Hutchinson 10-6 and took a 41-34 lead into halftime marking the largest lead of the game. The second half would open with a 13-4 run by the Conqs to a take a 54-38 lead just four minutes into the second half. That lead continued to blossom over the second half extending to north of 20 points as the Conqs secured the 104-88 win. 
 
Conqs offense was efficient shooting 53% from the floor and went 11-23 from three-point range, along with 23-29 from the free throw line, while only having seven turnovers. Hutchinson would shoot 44.3% from the field but under 30% from three range. 
 
Jason Edwards registered a new career-high dropping 38 points on 13-23 shooting including 6-10 from three-point range and 6-7 from the free throw line, while adding eight assists and six rebounds. Cam Malray also had a career-high with 22 points on 8-13 shooting and added four rebounds, four blocks, two assists, and two steals. Jacobi Sebock, Chris Robinson, and DJ Jones each chipped in 11 points. Sebock also grabbed eight rebounds, while Robinson had seven assists. 
 
Five games remain in the regular season for the Conqs as they will hit the road again to take on Cloud County on Wednesday, February 15th at 8:00 pm.
