Women's Basketball Squeezes By Pratt On the Road

Do Dodge City women's basketball snuck away with a road KJCCC win on Wednesday after just getting past Pratt 90-88.

The victory moves the Conquistadors to 9-1 on the season and 3-1 in KJCCC action, while marking the sixth straight win over Pratt in the series. The win is also the 12th straight road KJCCC win for the Conqs dating back to last season.

The Conqs would look to take control early and worked to a 13-4 lead over the first four minutes of the contest but that lead would shrink as Pratt tied the contest in the final minute of the first quarter leading to a 20-20 tie after the first 10 minutes of play. Things would remain tight and back-and-forth throughout the second stanza, but the Conqs would snag the lead and carry a 46-40 advantage into halftime. That lead however would not hold up either as Pratt fought back to tie the game and even take the lead in the third quarter briefly, along with doing it again in the fourth quarter. Pratt would go up 82-78 with just over five and half minutes left but the Conqs counter-punched with an 11-0 run and finished the game outscoring Pratt 12-6 to grab the 90-88 as Pratt's game-winning shot attempt at the buzzer came up empty.

The hot shooting of this season continued for the Conqs as they hit 56.5% of their shots with nine three-pointers but Pratt would hit 50.8% of their shots in the contest, also.

Parris Atkins led the Conqs as she tallied 23 points on 10-17 shooting adding five rebounds, five assists, and six steals. Paris Santacaterina notched 22 points on 10-16 shooting along with six rebounds and seven assists, while Layla-J Cameron added 17 points on 8-14 shooting and grabbed five rebounds.

Conqs return to action on Saturday, December 2nd at 1:00 pm when they host Cloud County in KJCCC action.
