Women's Soccer Falls On the Road to #10 Hutchinson

For the third straight match, the Dodge City women's soccer team took on a ranked KJCCC opponent this time hitting the road to square off with #10 Hutchinson, and despite scoring the first goal of the contest the Conquistadors would fall 2-1.

The loss for the Conqs sends them to 3-6-3 on the season and 2-6-3 in conference play.

Hutchinson would fire off multiple opportunities in the first half but the Conqs defense buckled in for another shutout half of soccer keeping the Blue Dragons off the board the first 45 minutes. However, the Conws were limited in their opportunities and were unable to get on the board in the first half leaving the match scoreless at intermission. Shortly into the second half, the Conqs would get on the board in the 49th minute as Mariam El Mir Tartouri redirected a Yui Fujii pass into the back of the net to give Dodge City the 1-0 lead. The lead didn't last long as Hutchinson just one minute later would be awarded a penalty kick after a handball in the box and the Blue Dragons would convert to tie the match. It remained tied until the 77th minute when the Blue Dragons broke through again snagging the lead which they carried to the final horn to win the match 2-1 over the Conqs.

The Conqs were outshot 17-6 in the loss, while Lucia Martinez Garcia did record five saves in the contest.

Up next the Conqs take on their fourth straight ranked opponent as they welcome #16 Cowley to town on Saturday, October 8th at 1:00 pm.
