Dodge City men's soccer wrapped up the regular season by sweeping the season series with Coffeyville claiming a 2-1 win over the Red Ravens to secure a third-place finish in the KJCCC.
The win moves the Conquistadors to 10-4-2 on the season marking the fourth time in Head Coach, Oscar Zelaya's tenure that the Conqs have won 10 matches in a single season, while also capping their action in KJCCC play with a 6-4-2 record.
The contest would be even throughout the first half as both teams had opportunities and the Conqs would take advantage first as they earned a penalty kick in the 12th minute. Theo Hoang stepped up to take the penalty kick for the Conqs and pushed it into the back of the net giving the Conqs a 1-0 lead that lead only lasted a 3:40 as Coffeyville off a corner kick found a way to get on the board to even the contest up 1-1. Tied 1-1 going into halftime the second half would see the Conqs pick up the pace and rattle off nine shots leading to a Crescenzo Christian Difficile goal in the 78th minute which would ultimately lead to the Conqs securing the 2-1 win.
The Conqs would outshoot Coffeyville 12-7 in the contest, while Eric Zalaya picked up a pair of saves in the win.
Up next the postseason commences for the Conqs as they will host KCK on Saturday, October 28th in the first round of the Plains District playoffs at 1:00 pm at Memorial Stadium in Dodge City.
