Football Vaults Up Four Spots to #10 In Latests NJCAA Rankings

After a big win over a Top 10 ranked Iowa Central team last week, 34-30, Dodge City football is on the move up in the national NJCAA rankings. 

The Conquistadors moved to 5-3 on the season last week with the win over Iowa Central marking the most wins since the 2016 season and that win has vaulted the Conqs to the #10 spot in the latest NJCAA Division I rankings. The Conqs moved up four spots to their highest ranking since October 3rd, 2016. 

The five wins this season have come against Coffeyville, Ellsworth, and Highland on the road along with wins at home against Garden City and Iowa Central. While in the loss column the Conqs fell to teams that are currently ranked #1, #2, and #5 in the country with two of the three games being decided by single digits. 

Offensively the Conqs are averaging 20.5 points per game this season on 294.6 yards per game, balancing out the offense with 185.4 passing yards per game and 109.3 rushing yards per game. 

While on defense the Conqs are holding opponents to 19.9 points per game which ranks 15th in the nation, while giving up just 291.4 yards per game. The Conqs are racking up 74.8 tackles per game while forcing 13 turnovers which in nine interceptions and adding 16 sacks on the season. 

Two games remain in the regular season for the Conqs as they are locked in for a bye week this week and then will take on #13 Butler in the final home game of the season on Saturday, November 4th and then will square off with Independence on the road on November 11th.
