Dodge City men's soccer stumble on the road in KJCCC action as the Conquistadors fell 2-1 in Liberal to Seward County.
The loss moves the Conqs to 8-4-2 on the season and 5-4-2 in KJCCC action.
While the first half saw the Conqs control the pace and time of possession the first 45 minutes only saw limited opportunities for the Conqs towards the goal. Seward County would have limited opportunities at the goal also in the first half, but the Saints struck first in the 13th minute and then added another goal in the 41st minute giving the Saints a 2-0 lead going into halftime. The Conqs would pick up the pace in the second half generating more looks towards the goal but were unable to break through until a penalty kick was called with 44 seconds remaining, leading to Andres Rocha stepping up to tally the goal and the Conqs would get another late offense push but would be unable to find the equalizer falling 2-1.
In the loss, the Conqs outshot Seward County 14-7 but four of the Saints were on goal leading to their two goals.
Two games remain in the regular season for the Conqs as they will take on Newman JV in Wichita at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, October 17th, and then will host Coffeyville at 4:00 pm on Monday, October 23rd to cap the regular season.
