Dodge City men's soccer earned a point in the KJCCC standings playing to a tie against Kansas City Kansas CC on Sunday as the contest finished in a 2-2 tie.
The tie moves the Conquistadors to 6-3-2 on the season and 3-3-2 in KJCCC action.
The Conqs would strike early against KCK as Crescenzo Christian Difficile made a run at the goal in the fifth minute and got the Conqs on the board behind the early goal. That lead would only hold up for a little over seven minutes as KCK and an answer in the 12th minute on a free kick placing it into a group in the box and sneaking its way into the goal. The rest of the first half would be a back-and-forth affair with both teams getting a few more cracks at the goal.
After a lightning day coming out of halftime, both teams would play an eerily similar second half to the first. Nearly seven minutes into the second half the Blue Devils of KCK would snag the lead for the first time on the day. The rain would start to fall in the second half and linger around for most of the remaining portion of the game but it would not hamper the teams who each continued to orchestra opportunities. In the 74th minute, the Conqs found a way to tie the contest up as Difficile headed the ball ahead to Andres Rocha who cashed in for the goal. The Conqs would have a few shots as the rest of the game time dwindled, including right as time expired but settled for a 2-2 tie.
The Conqs outshot KCK 15-12 in the win and Eric Zalaya would record five saves in goal.
Up next the Conqs are back in action on Saturday, October 7th at home against #5 Cowley at 3:00 pm.
