Women's Basketball Routes Colby Led by Burton's Triple-Double

Dodge City women's basketball picked up their seventh win in a row as they downed Colby at home on Saturday beating the Trojans 87-60, spear headed by a triple-double from Jada Burton
 
The Conquistadors with the win moved to 14-2 on the season and 9-1 in KJCCC action extending their win streak to seven straight games and 12-straight games in the win column at home. The Conqs have also won 15 of the last 21 meetings with Colby. 
 
It was all Conqs early as they raced out to a 10-0 lead forcing Colby to call a timeout and would lead 12-0 before the Trojans got on the board with Burton scoring eight of the first 12 by the Conqs. The Conqs would ultimately finish the first quarter holding a 22-8 lead. By halftime the Conqs were up 47-29 and in the second half continued to force Colby into mistakes and take advantage of them posting a 24-16 third quarter to extend the lead. Ultimately the Conqs wrapped up the contest coasting in the fourth quarter to secure the 87-60 win. 
 
Conqs managed to get 90 shots off in the contests including 42 three-point attempts making 11 and would record 20 assists on 34 made field goals. Defensively the Conqs forced 27 Colby turnovers and held the Trojans to 37.7% shooting, while the Conqs only had 11 turnovers themselves. 
 
Burton paced the Conqs with a triple-double as she had a game-high and career-high 20 points on 8-11 shooting and added 12 assists (career-high), and 11 rebounds. Jenna Rose Mafua chipped in 16 points going 4-7 from three-point range, while Georgia Gray finished with a career-high 15 points on 7-12 shooting. Paris Santacarterina also registered 15 points a new career-best and added a career-best nine rebounds, while Shakara Anderson tallied a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. 
 
Conqs will be back in action at home on Wednesday, January 11th as they will host Pratt at 5:30 pm.
