Dodge City women's basketball continue to rack up the wins as they took down Pratt in the latest KJCCC challenge winning 89-74.
The win marks the Conquistadors eighth straight win giving them their longest win streak since the 2015-16 season while also marking the 13
th straight win at home as the Conqs improved to 15-2 on the season and 10-1 in conference play.
Conqs opened the night with three early three-pointers to take the early lead, but Pratt pushed back on the back on Princess Anderson and closed the gap. The Conqs pushed back with a 9-0 run to lead 27-14 with only 1:33 left in the first quarter but Pratt finished the quarter on 7-2 to make it 29-21. Conqs would see Pratt keep the contest tight in the second quarter and at the half the Conqs led 40-35. The second half opened with a 10-4 run by the Conqs and the lead would work to as high as 17-points in the third quarter with the Conqs up 67-53 after three quarters posting a 27-18 quarter. The Conqs finished out the contest with only one turnover in the second half and secured the 89-74 win.
The rebounding battle was won by the Conqs who dominated the boards with 52 rebounds (the most rebounds in a conference game this season) outrebounding Pratt by 19. The Conqs would also go 18-25 from the free throw line and finished with 15 turnovers with only one in the second half.
Leah Mafua tallied 16 points for the Conqs adding seven rebounds and four assists, while
Jenna Rose Mafua also had 16 points.
Georgia Gray had a career-night on the boards grabbing 16 rebounds while finishing with a double-double with 12 points.
Shakara Anderson added a double-double with 14 points and a career-high 12 rebounds.
Jada Burton chipped in 11 points on the night to put five Conqs in double figures.
The Conqs will have a battle for first place in the KJCCC on Saturday, January 14
th on the road in Great Bend against #18 Barton at 2:00 pm.
