Dodge City volleyball traveled to Hutchinson to continue KJCCC play on Wednesday and battled the Blue Dragons in a grind-it-out contest that was decided in four sets with Hutchinson eking out the win. 

The Conquistadors after taking the first set ultimately dropped the match 3-1 (29-27, 25-27, 23-25, 22-25) to move to 14-5 on the season and 3-3 in KJCCC action. 

Conqs strung together an early 4-0 run in the first set to lead 8-4 and force a Hutchinson timeout, but the Blue Dragons answered to tie the match 9-9. Another run was put together by the Conqs going on a 5-0 run that turned into a 7-1 run to make it 17-11 Conqs but that lead would not hold as Hutchinson once again close the gap. Late in the first set, the teams traded points to push the set into extra points and the Conqs took the first set 29-27. After a strong start to the second set for the Conqs Hutchinson answered and set two would be a see-saw affair to a 27-25 Blue Dragon set two victory. 

Even at two sets each, the third set was tied multiple times throughout the contest and down to the wire, it would go with Hutchinson besting the Conqs 25-23. Despite a lead in the latter portion of the fourth, the Conqs were unable to continue the match dropping the fourth set 25-22. 

In the loss, the Conqs had 17 kills and 10 digs for a double-double from Ozge Tan, while Maryna Kmuk chipped in 16 kills. Oliwia Durka added 11 kills and Nur Yaren Turkmenoglu finished with 48 assists, eight digs, and an ace. Defensively the Conqs saw Jatnna Pena recorded a career-best 31 digs, while Alannah Lozoya added 10 digs. 

The Conqs are back in action quickly as they host Garden City on Friday, September 30th at 6:30 pm. It's Black Out Night and all fans are encouraged to wear black to the game and free shirts will be given out at the game.
