Dodge City softball has rattled off eight straight wins and stretching out their win streak with two wins on Sunday in Goodland against Northwest Kansas Tech.
The Conquistadors claimed a 25-14 victory and 12-1 win in five innings over the Mavericks of Northwest Kansas Tech to improve to 18-16 on the season and 12-8 in KJCCC play. The win is also the sixth straight over the Mavericks and the 11
th out of the last 12 games versus Tech.
Conqs stay on the road and turn around quick for more action as they will play at Colby on Monday, April 11
thfor a KJCCC doubleheader to keep the season rolling.
Game 1 – at Northwest Kansas Tech Won 25-14
The Conqs would fall behind early as the Mavericks tallied three runs in the first and another in the second to lead 4-0 but in the top of the third the Conqs evened up the game scoring four as
Ollievia Lowe drew a bases load walk for the first run and then
AJ Poell belted a three-run home run to tie the game at 4-4. The Conqs took the lead in the bottom of the fourth plating five runs with a two RBI double by
Melanie Castro and an RBI double by Lowe highlighting the inning. Conqs added two more in the fifth, but Northwest Kansas Tech answered cutting the lead to just three at 11-8 after scoring four in the fifth. Conqs pushed the lead back out in the sixth by scoring six, but the Mavericks tallied two in the bottom of the sixth. In the seventh the Conqs put it firmly out of reach behind eight runs in the top of the inning with a three-run home run by
Jennifer Katz highlighting the inning. Mavericks managed a run in the bottom of the bottom of the seventh, but the Conqs secured the 25-11 win.
The 25 runs on 28 hits are both season high numbers for the Conqs as eight ladies finished with three hits or more each in the contest. Castro finished 4-5 with runs scored, four RBI, and two doubles, while
Riley Haney was 4-6 with three RBI, a run scored, and a double.
Addison Spencer had a four-hit game with two runs scored, two doubles, and RBI.

Stephanie Torres, Lowe, and Poell each had a three-hit game. Katz had only one hit (a home run) but drew four walks and scored four runs.
Raemie Lopp earned the win in relief tossing the final three innings, while
Alexis Holman and
Destiny Saldivar each tossed two innings of work.
Game 2 – at Northwest Kansas Tech Won 12-1 (5 innings)
The offense from game one rolled over to game two for the Conqs as they rolled to a 12-1 five inning win over Northwest Kansas Tech. Conqs scored early and often plating two in the top of the first inning highlighted by an RBI triple from Haney and RBI single by Spencer. A two-run Katz home run got the scoring going in the second inning as the Conqs tallied five in the frame to make it 7-0 and with three more runs in the third the game jumped to 10-0. Conoqs tacked on two more in the fourth and while the Mavericks got a run in the bottom of the fourth that's all they would get, and they would go done relatively quietly in the fifth to finish the game 12-1.
Danika Utajara had one of her best outings this season earning the win in the circle tossing all five innings giving up just one run on five hits and no walks, while striking out two.
Poell and Haney led the Conqs offense that had 12-hits in game two as they both had three apiece. For Poell she finished 3-4 with a run scored and two RBI, while Haney was 3-4 with two runs scored, two RBI, a triple, and a double. Spencer added a 2-3 game with two RBI, while Katz was 1-1 with two runs scored, two RBI, a home run, and three walks.
