Dodge City softball made it six in a row with a pair of wins on Sophomore Day on Saturday as the Conquistadors topped Pratt 8-2 and 10-6.
The wins move the Conqs to 16-16 on the season and 10-8 in KJCCC action, while also making it 20-straight wins over Pratt in the series.
Conqs are quickly back to action as they take on Northwest Kansas Tech on Sunday, April 10th in Goodland for a KJCCC doubleheader and then travel to Colby on Monday, April 11th for another Conference twin bill.
Game 1 – vs Pratt Won 8-2
Conqs took the early lead capitalizing on a Pratt error in the bottom of the first as
Makayla Garcia recorded an RBI single to bring in
Ollievia Lowe who reached on an error. The game remained 1-0 until the fourth when Pratt plated a pair of runs in the top of the fourth to take a 2-1 lead, but the Conqs answered in the bottom of the inning scoring four to regain the lead as RBI triples by
Stephanie Torres and
Kalei Villegas highlighted the inning. Conqs added two more in the fifth and another in the sixth on an
AJ Poell RBI single to gain the 8-2 win.
Raemie Lopp picked up her second straight win inside the circle giving up just two runs on five hits and two walks with one strikeout. Torres led the Conqs offense going 2-3 with a triple, double, two RBI, and a run scored. Eight other Conqs tallied a hit in the contest as the offense was spread out through the lineup.
Game 2 – vs Pratt Won 10-6
Conqs got on the board early by scoring a pair of runs in the second inning and then tallied two more in the third to lead 4-1 after three innings. Pratt hit a three-run home run in the fourth to tie the game at 4-4 but the Conqs answered with a run in the bottom of the fourth to lead 5-4. Conqs managed to scratch three more runs across in the fifth and two in the sixth while Pratt only managed two more runs in the contest as the Conqs earned the 10-6 win.
Melanie Castro led the Conqs offense going 2-4 with two runs scored, four stolen bases, and a walk.
Riley Haney posted a 2-4 game with two runs scored and an RBI, while Poell was 2-4 with a run scored, double, and triple.

Danika Utajara tossed 1.2 innings to earn the save.
