The Dodge City women's basketball team made it a season sweep of the Pratt Beavers on Saturday in route to their 12th KJCCC win of the season the most since the 2004-05 season as the Conquistadors won 62-45.
The win moves the Conqs to 17-11 on the season which is the most wins since the 2015-16 season, while they moved to 12-10 in KJCCC action with two games remaining in the regular season.
It was a slow start to the afternoon for both teams as each team struggled to score out of the gate and the teams traded early leads in the first quarter with the Conqs settling into an 11-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. Things opened up for the Conqs in the second quarter as an 8-0 run made it 22-12 to give the Conqs their first double-figure lead and that lead would grow. Conqs strung together 12-straight points later in the second quarter and led 37-15 and would carry a 37-17 lead into halftime. Pratt pushed back in the second half cutting into the Conqs lead but the early advantage established carried the Conqs to the 62-45 win.
In the win, the Conqs defense held Pratt to just 27.9% shooting and forced 29 turnovers while having a season-high as a team with 20 steals and won the rebounding battle by +15. Offensively all 12 Conqs who suited up and played scored at least two points in the victory.
Krystina Hagood paced the Conqs on the night as the only double-figure scorer with 13 points and added five rebounds.
Samantha Koeberer chipped in nine points and grabbed four rebounds, while
Destinee Paulk scored seven points.
It's a quick turnaround for the Conqs as they host Independence in a Sunday (Feb. 20th) afternoon contest at 2:00 pm for a makeup game from earlier this season and then travel to Barton on Wednesday, February 23rd.
