Men's Basketball Sweeps Season Series with Hutchinson With Win at Home

Dodge City men's basketball made it a season sweep of the Hutchinson Blue Dragons for the first time since 2006 as the #6 Conquistadors took down #18 Hutchinson 100-96 at home.

The win moves the Conqs to 21-4 on the season and 16-3 in Jayhawk Conference action and increases their lead in Conference standings as the Conqs continue to sit in first place. The win also gives the Conqs the season sweep of the teams currently in second through fifth in the Conference which include: Garden City, Hutchinson, Butler, and Coffeyville.

Locked in a tight battle throughout the first half the Conqs trailed Hutchinson for a good portion of the half but went into halftime with the 49-47 advantage, capitalizing on some strong shooting. Conqs would continue to maintain the lead in the second half and extend that lead growing the advantage to eight points with 11 minutes remaining. Hutchinson didn't go away pushing back to take their first lead of the second half with about five and half minutes left in the game and held a 95-90 lead with 3:23 left in the contest. The Conqs would put the clamps on the Blue Dragons the rest of the game and outscore them 10-1 over the final three minutes to take the 100-96 win.

Conqs shot over 50% as a team for the 11th time this season finishing 34-61 from the floor for 55.7%, and only had nine turnovers in the contest.

Themus Fulks continued his strong stretch for the Conqs posting a double-double with 21 points and 10 assists while going 11-13 from the free-throw line. Nick Pringle had a monster double-double with 17 points and 20 rebounds, while Oumar Koureissi chipped in 15 points and five rebounds. Pringle's 17 points match his career-high and his 20 rebounds are a career-high mark, also. Kalen Williams finished with 15 points and four rebounds and BJ Freeman added 12 points. Mykell Robinson also had a strong performance with 11 points on 4-6 shooting and a huge block.

The Conqs have five games remaining in the regular season and will be back in action at home on Saturday, February 12th against Cloud County at 3:00 pm.
