Women's Basketball Routes Northern Oklahoma-Enid in Home Opener

Dodge City women's basketball took the floor for the home opener facing off with Northern Oklahoma-Enid and picked up the 82-36. 

The Conquistadors with the win moved to 2-1 on the season picking up a win over Enid for the first time in the series.

The Conqs came out quickly and jumped on the Jets of Enid cruising to a sizable lead after just the first quarter going up 26-8. By halftime, the Conqs led 44-20 capitalizing on 16 first-half turnovers by Enid to more than double up the Jets. In the second half, the Conqs continued to force the hand of Enid leading to more turnovers, and ultimately would post an 18-8 third quarter and 20-8 fourth quarter to cruise to an 82-36 win. 

Defensively the Conqs held Enid to just 25% shooting and forced 35 turnovers in the contest while shooting 47.8% themselves and making nine three-pointers. 

A trio of double-figure scorers paced the Conqs with 15 points from Leah Mafua leading the way as she added four steals, three rebounds, and two assists. Kianna Lemons netted 13 points on 5-5 shooting including 3-3 from three-point range and Bree Stephens chipped in 13 points adding six rebounds, four assists, and five steals. Five other Conqs scored six or seven points each for balanced contributions on the night. 

Conqs are headed back to Texas to continue the season as they will play in the Midland College Classic in Midland, Texas on Friday, November 11th, and Saturday, November 12th against Ranger and Midland, respectively.
