The Conqs would give South Plains all they could handle and had a chance late to take the lead but ultimately fell 66-59 in the contest to move to 1-1 on the season.

It was tight and back-and-forth throughout the first quarter as the Conqs staying with in striking distance throughout the frame trailing 15-12 after the first quarter. In the second quarter the Conqs fell behind by double figures but cut the lead to six late in the second only to see South Plains drain a three-pointer at the horn to make it 37-28 at intermission. Conqs would close the gap even more with a 16-14 third quarter and then a 6-0 run to open the fourth quarter made it a one-point game at 51-50 but South Plains responded to grab control again and went on to take the win over the Conqs 66-59.
