Dodge City women's basketball improved to 5-1 on the season with a route of Bethany JV winning in a lopsided affair 101-25.
The Conquistadors established early control and cruised to the win over Bethany JV picking up their fourth straight win posting season-highs in several categories on the way to the win.
The Conqs opened the contest on a 9-0 run and didn't look back going on to hold a 24-8 lead after the first quarter of action. Lead continued to balloon in the second quarter as the Conqs would post a 26-12 second stanza to lead 50-20 at intermission. In the second half the Conqs would blank the Swedes of Bethany in the third quarter outscoring them 24-0 and then went over the century mark in the fourth quarter behind a 27-5 fourth to secure the 101-25 win.
In the win the Conqs defense allowed the lowest point total by an opponent under Head Coach,
Landon Steele as the Swedes scored just 25 points on 23.8% shooting and had 39 turnovers. Conqs offensively shot 54.4% making 43 shots with 32 assists and drained 12 three-pointers. The Conqs controlled the boards winning the rebounding battle 43-19 and recorded 24 steals.
Five Conqs tallied double figures on the night led by a career-high for
Shakara Anderson who dropped 21 points on 8-14 shooting including five three-pointers and grabbed nine rebounds.
Georgia Gray had a career-best 13 points as she was a perfect 6-6 from the floor, while
Jenna Rose Mafua scored 14 points on 6-7 shooting.
Jada Burton nearly had a triple-double finishing with 11 points, a career-high 10 assists, and seven rebounds.
Paris Santacaterina added 11 points on 5-8 shooting and dished out seven assists.
Conqs now transition to conference play and open the action on the road taking on Cowley in Arkansas City, Kansas on Saturday, November 19
th at 1:00 pm.
