The Conqs were unable to overcome a slow start on the night falling 3-1 to Seward County dropping the match 25-16, 25-17, 16-25, 25-20. The loss moves the Conqs to 15-5 on the season and 4-4 in KJCCC action.
After the first point of the night going the way of Seward County the Conqs strung together a 3-0 run headlined by an
Alannah Lozoya ace. The first set remained tight until Seward County pushed ahead going up 17-12 leading to a Conq timeout. The Conqs were unable to recover from that point as Seward finished off the first set 25-16. Set two was nearly a mirror image of the first as the Conqs opened the set on a 3-0 run and lead 7-4 early but the Saints again made a push and took the lead at 12-11 and then went up 16-12 leading to a Conq timeout. Out of the timeout, Seward County put the second set away winning it 25-17.
Set three saw the Conqs cooking early as they rattled off seven-straight points to open the set, as
Nur Yaren Turkmenoglu had a pair of aces during the run. The Conqs lead grew to 12-4 and that would propel them to win the third set 25-16 with a pair of
Katelyn Kennedy aces highlighting the set, also. In set four it was back-and-forth and tight throughout with Seward County pushing ahead late to have just enough of an advantage to hold the Conqs off and win the set 25-20 to take the match.
Martyna Kmuk paced the Conqs attack with 13 kills on a .323 hitting percentage while adding four digs, while
Ozge Tan had eight kills with 14 digs and three aces. Turkmenoglu finished with 33 assists, eight digs, and three aces.
Jatnna Pena finished with 16 digs, two aces, and two assists.
The Conqs have a quick turnaround as they will take on Barton at home on Wednesday, October 5th at 6:30 pm.
