Dodge City men's soccer faltered in a tough home contest on Saturday taking on Neosho County dropping their second straight game as the Panthers took a 4-1 win.
The loss for the Conqs marks the first losing streak of the season for Dodge City and moves the team to 8-4 on the season and 3-3 in KJCCC action.
Conqs would be climbing a hill to get back in the match early as Neosho County just 1:28 into the match earned a corner kick and poked it in on a header to make it 1-0. After that the Conqs picked up the paced and controlled the first half finding a way to tie the game at 1-1 as
Juan Ballesta scored his fifth goal of the season coming in the 16
th minute with
Bastien Dechamps and
Andres Rocha each getting an assist.
It would remain 1-1 until the 56
th minute when Neosho County had a breakaway opportunity and got past the Conqs defense to chip in their second goal of the game. The Panthers grew their lead to 3-1 in the 64
th minute and then on a free kick added another goal in the 74
th minute ultimately sending the Conqs to a 4-1 loss.
In the loss the Conqs outshot Neosho 16-7 but the Panthers had five of their seven shots be shots on goal and were efficient with their opportunities.
Conqs will be back in action against #9 Barton on the road in Great Bend on Saturday, October 8
th at 1:00 pm.
