Men's Basketball Stretches Win Streak to 11 With Win Over Indy

Back at it after the holiday break the #5 Dodge City men's basketball team had a battle with Independence but continued their win streak streaking it to 11-straight behind an 86-79. 

The win moves the Conquistadors to 13-1 on the season and 8-0 in KJCCC play. 

The first half was tight throughout with the Conqs holding the lead most of the time, but Independence remained with a pair of buckets most of the half even drawing within one and evening game up late in the half. Conqs carried a 42-41 lead into intermission. The second half would see the Independence snag the lead, but it was for a brief time as the Conqs took it back and worked the lead to double figures for the first time at 71-61 with under seven minutes left in the game. While the lead remained double figures most of the game from working to that double-figure lead being establish it was Independence in the final couple minutes making it a six-point game with one and half minutes left, but the Conqs went on to secure the 86-79 win. 

Conqs offensively shot 45.1% from the floor and went to the free-throw line frequently on the night shooting 35 free throws making 20. Rebounding edge was +4 in favor of the Conqs. 

BJ Freeman went 9-18 from the floor to lead the Conqs on the night with 24 points while adding five rebounds, three assists, and three blocks. Themus Fulks continued his strong season with 20 points, adding six rebounds and three assists. Oumar Koureissi matched his career-high with 15 points and went 5-6 from the free-throw line while grabbing eight rebounds. Nick Pringle recorded his third double-double of the season finishing with 14 points on 5-9 shooting and adding 12 rebounds. 

Conqs hit the road on Saturday, January 8th to continue the season and will take on #21 Colby Trojans at 4:00 pm.
