Men's Basketball Drops Game On the Road at Seward County

For the fourth time in the last five games, the men's basketball team found themselves locked in a battle that would go down to the wire and be decided by single digits. This time around it was on the road against Seward County and the Saints snagged the 68-61 win.

The loss moves the Conquistadors to 17-4 on the season and 12-3 in the Conference.

Tied early at 6-6 it was the Saints that made the first push of the game and took control of the contest working to their first double-figure lead at 19-9 with 10:26 remaining in the first half. The lead grew to as large as 16 points for Seward County at 33-17 with 3:27 left in the first half and by halftime the Conqs found themselves trailing 37-22 on the road.

Conqs came out of the gate strong in to open the second half going on a 9-2 run over the first four minutes of the half cutting the lead to 39-31. Slowly throughout the second half, the lead for Seward County continued to dwindle as the Conqs got within five points, then three points, and then with just 25 seconds remaining after a Kalen Williams three-pointer it was just a two-point game at 63-61. Conqs would foul and then other issues led to more free throws for Seward County and the Saints secured the win late with free throws to finish the contest 68-61.

In the loss, the Conqs shot just 38.9% from the floor, while Seward County shot 48.9%. Conqs managed to win the rebounding battle 34-26 but were hurt by 19 turnovers in the contest.

Williams led the Conqs with 16 points adding three rebounds and two steals, while Oumar Koureissi finished with 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Kerwin Prince off the bench finished with 11 points, while Nick Pringle grabbed 13 points and scored four points.
